Thay add folklore and tales of ghostly activity over the 1 - 2 hour tour and some even issue EM meters and spirit boxes to patrons. They are rarely conducted inside a building and are solely for entertainment.
Ghost hunts are conducted inside locations that are rumered to be haunted. Enthusiasts use gear like EMF detectors, spirit boxes, and audio recorders to prove that there are ghosts at the location. The evidence from "ghost catching," is never challenged and considered to be from ghosts. Possible explanations are ignored and often exaggerate or misinterpret to build a compelling narrative. Many of the devices used are highly sensitive to natural environmental changes or man made sources.
Paranormal investigations also explore locations rumored to be haunted to document unexplained phenomena. They aim to validate claims of supernatural activity using specialized equipment, interviews, and historical research. They take a "debunk-first" mentality to find logical explanations—such as faulty electrical wiring, air drafts, or environmental vibrations.
